3338 Glyphs + Script issue: Variation interpolation

Issue: Recent upgrade vr3338 + Mekkablue script > Interpolation > Variation interpolation = app crash.

Noticed my Devanagari iMatra creation via ‘variation interpolation’ causes a hang and then crashes after I updated to vr3338.

I’m in a lucky position to have a dupe setup on a old laptop with vr3337 which remains stable. So shouting out a potential a upgrade conflict, could be a personal issue, but a shoutout anyways.

Both scripts work in 3337?

yes, but as far as I’m aware, just the one script - variation interpolator - in mekkablue’s interpolation section, crashes the app .

What version of macOS and python do you have?

The difference between Glyphs 3337 and 3338 is very small. So I can’t think of a reason that scripting could behave differently.

Stable Desktop with Vr 3337

  • OS: 14.6.1 (23G93)
  • Python: 3.11.9 (Glyphs)

**Issue Laptop with Vr 3338

  • OS: 14.5
  • Python 3.11.9 (Glyphs)

Noticed both need OS updating. Might this be the reason. As you say it’s a minor Glyphs update.

Hold tight. Updating Laptop, seeing if that resolves issue.

Did you try version 3337 on the laptop? And 3338 on the desktop? (it is save to have both versions next to each other.)

Have updated to Sequoia 15.2 on the Laptop and the script ‘variation interpolator’ action is still crashing Glyphs.

** ok. I’ve saved a 3338 Laptop version file and opened it on the 3337 Desktop and run the script ‘variation interpolator’ and it works perfectly. strange huh?

Should roll back to 3337 of Glyphs on Laptop now?, see if that reverts the issue?

but I’m quite sure that it will still crash. There is something else happing on your laptop that is causing the crash.

Did you send the crashes (the reports that come up when you restart the app) from the script? Please send all crash reports and add a short note.

I saw some reports from you, but they are not related to scripting.

I’ll run a few actions/crashes tomorrow morning to generate the scripts and send on.
After that I’ll reload/revert to 3337 and see if that resolves the issue.

Apologies, I had client work to finish so only just now have I attended to my laptop
Have updated to 3340 and the issue has been resolved.
Great work on Glyphs and thanks for your help before.
