Alternating glyphs at design space coordinates

Hi guys!
What is the current status of alternating glyphs at specific coordinates in a variable font. Is still needed to use bracket layers? Or is there a new syntax like defining rules at font info or something like that.

You can write you own feature variation rules now. It is mentioned in the Glyphs 3 release notes. A full tutorial is coming (@mekkablue )
