Alternative letters in Indesign Glyphs-window

Hey everybody,

I couldn´t find an answer in the manual or forum. Hope somone can help
here.

Is it possible to provide more then one Version of a Glyph as seen with
some fonts in Indesign.

f.E.The Capital letter I. I want a Version with and without serif.

Cheers,

tim

There are several possible ways. In your case, make one “regular” “I” and one stylistic alternate and name it “I.ss01” go to Font Info > features and click the circular button in the bottom left corner.

Perfect!

Thanks
a
million!

one more question. (should i open a new post?)

If I try to use the “removeOverlap” filter the Program “RemoveOverlap” crashes. Also if I try to export the font and check the removeOverlap button.

Glyphs did this since i´ve installed it. I use the Demo + OSX 10.5.8 ?

cheers, tim

… means this works with an update?

thanks for your help. Great work!

Yes. The update is almost finished.

Hey Georg, what’s the other ways to make a glyph appear in the InDesign alterantes hover?

Add it a substitution to it in the ‘aalt’ feature or as character variants (.cvXX (01-99) suffix).

Any 1-to-1 substitution in any feature should work, just make sure you update the aalt feature afterwards.
