Are Discretionary Ligatures SEO-friendly?

Dear Forum,

my client needs to know if the dlig-feature I have built into the font (it makes excessive use of ligatures when used in headlines on the website) will prove SEO-unfriendly. Does anyone have experience with that?

Thanks in advance!
Max

You mean search engine optimization?

Search engines (can) only go for the character stream, which remains unaffected by OpenType features. OT features operate on the glyph level only. The entered text stays the same.

Awesome. Thank you very much!

The crawlers don’t even see the ligatures. They only look at the underlying text.
