Am I correct in thinking there’s no way to set different division or subdivision grid settings for the x and y directions? I’m imagining a design in which I want points to snap to certain heights but have full freedom horizontally.
That is currently not possible but sounds like an interesting idea.

You could try my MasterGrid plugin (available in the plugin manager). It doesn’t snap, but it allows separate values for x/y.
