Auto Bumper in Glyphs 2

Does Auto Bumper script work with Glyphs 2?
Running it on the preview, edit views does nothing.

That script is not compatible with Glyphs 2. It is sometimes possible to keep the code compatible, but not in this case.

I see. Thanks for the info.
These things should be mentioned somewhere, maybe a dedicated thread where there’s info about compatibility of functions, and maybe even a comparison of v2 with v3, so that you have a format for when v3 needs to be compared with v4 when it’s released

For plug-ins, there is already this filtering where a plug-in can declare its minimum Glyphs version.

Maybe it makes sense to offer a similar capability for scripts. However, those often depend much more on the Python version than the Glyphs version, with Python 2 for Glyphs 2 and Python 3 for Glyphs 3. This won’t be an issue with future Glyphs versions.

I have often wished script authors would add a comment section in their scripts showing a date or version number as well as any minimum requirements. Maybe a flag for the app to use for incompatibility. I think it would be very helpful.

A lot of extra effort. I kept scripts compatible as long as possible right after G3 came out. It is almost five years now, and only very few people have G2 in operation still.

You can find out by trying to run the script. If it works, it works. If it does not, you can git-checkout an old version of the mekkablue scripts.

What I will likely do in future version transitions is move the updated scripts to a new branch.

Yes. That is supposed to be in the README.md. Sure enough, in the case of the mekkablue scripts it was totally outdated. Just updated it. Thanks for the reminder.
