Is there a way to select corner components by dragging and box selecting them? I know this is possible with regular components by holding the option key but this doesn’t work for corners.
It is not possible. You can select all corners by hitting cmd+A a few times.
I would suggest having some sort of box selection as a feature. I work with large groups of corners in certain glyphs and not having any way to batch select them is time consuming. For instance, it would be great if I could easily drag and select all the all the interior corners in the screenshot show instead of having to click on each one.
Thanks
You mean the 36 points that make up the four central squares plus the right corners of the rounded shapes along the edge? You can just drag and select those – why wouldn’t you be able to?
If you like to select all corners in a layer, hit Cmd+A a few times.
I’m not talking about the points themselves but the corner components that are attached to those points.
Thanks Georg, I know about this and do it all the time. What I’m suggesting is the ability to select a group of corner components without selecting all of them.
For example, being able to select the chamfered corners here is only possible by manually clicking on each one. What I’m suggesting is that the option-drag feature that works for regular components also apply to corner and cap components.
In this case, I might select the four inside squares, cut them out, modify the remaining corner components, then paste the squares back. Or the other way. That’s only because this shape is easily box-selectable, but otherwise I don’t see how often we would benefit from the ability to select by dragging. (it’s odd to implement when anchors, components, and guidelines are not drag-selectable either. How would you propose to implement them all at once?)
Alternatively, select a corner component and hit tab to cycle through them.
The strategy from @Tosche also works well with the background layer: Cut some part of the layer to the background, process it there separately, then move it back to the foreground.
The Option+Drag selection of components could be reused for corners. I’ll have a look.
Thanks for the cut/paste tip @Tosche and @FlorianPircher. It’s really useful here!
And thanks for considering the the option+drag selection idea @GeorgSeifert
