I use the pen tool to add points to existing paths, most of the times for adding extremes. Sometimes I click and drag by mistake (I’m using a Wacom tablet), and when that happens the last off-curve point of the path is modified. Here’s a quick screen cast: http://drp.mk/i/0QZfkv6K8v
