Changing font version avoids cache issues?

Will changing the font version number in Glyphs app info field (e.g. Version 1.000 to 1.001) help avoid cache issues if the font is named the exact same and reinstalled? Or is it based on the name?

I’m expanding a font for someone and ideally we keep the same font name, but I don’t want them to have cache problems showing the old version potentially.

Thanks!

On MacOS, changing the file name can help to avoid cache problems. The font name can stay the same.

Thanks for the feedback Georg.

Does the version number change actually help in that, or is it not a factor technically-speaking (i.e. the primary benefit being the user can identify the old versus new file).

I don’t know. Changing the file name works fine by itself.

This script always works well for me.
