I’m new to Glyphs, starting last week with Mini and realizing that I couldn’t export this to a TTF file as I was trying to get kerning to work properly, so downloaded the full version. What I’m seeing is that PowerPoint seems to hold an old version that I was working on and I can’t clear the cache or wherever else the font might be. I’m using the latest MacOS, 26.4.1 (Tahoe). Are there clear instructions on how to clear the cache. I’ve done the restart in Safe Mode, which seems to clear the “Recent” fonts from PowerPoint, but when I add the font back using the FontTool, it is still the old set. The earlier posts are for earlier versions of MacOS.
Thanks,
Neil
Georg,
Thanks for your quick reply. That was where I went first. I started with “restart with Shift” and, although it appears to clear the cache (it clears recent fonts from Powerpoint), the minute I re-installed the font to FontBook, it appears the old font reappeared. The second step, “Make Apple Type Server clean its database” was met with “ATS is not supported starting macOS 14”, so the commands could not be used in Terminal with the newer macOS versions. I have not opted to create a script because it is calling the same commands that failed in Terminal. I am using Microsoft Powerpoint for Mac Version 16.108.1 (26041915).
I just did some testing and I think the issue I am having is that the kerning I have set up is not taking hold in Powerpoint, so it looks like the font is not being updated. In fact, it is being updated but not the kerning. I have modified what I originally had to user groups with kerning, have set “Keep Kerning in one Lookup” and “Export DSIG Table” but to no avail in Powerpoint. It looks fine in Word.
Regards,
Neil
