Combining marks missing from menu

Updating an old font, and somehow combining marks are no longer available to add.

Is there a way to restore them?

Tried in several fonts, and a new document, same result. Working in Glyphs 3.3 (3310)

The list of combining makes depends on the languages you intend to support. Character set development is an art and discipline within itself.

For a start, I would recommend using the legacy marks, which is a fixed list.

Are combining marks proposed in that field once you add the legacy marks?

That list has no default list. Most likely the old font has no combining marks. Check what the accented letters use as components.

Weird, I could have sworn they were there… no worries, I can copy/paste out of other docs.

I’m nearing the finish line on updating my 300+ Comicraft families to Type Network’s minimum character set, and just want to thank you and everyone who works on Glyphs for making such an incredibly clever and versatile tool! I could never have done it in Fontographer… Glad you and Erich pushed me into giving it a try, and keeping at it, too. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I would recommend using a list filter in your sidebar, which functions as a character set. Simply make a list of all the glyph names you require, define that as a list filter and voilĂ . If glyphs are missing from a font, they will be shown as missing in that filter and you can generate them accordingly.

This also ensures that you have the same minimum character set in all fonts.

I’m not sure whether the TN character set is available as a simple name list, but maybe you can find it.
