Complex character not displaying when I test in Illustrator

Hello everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster here…

I have a complex “character” I’ve included in the PUA that consists of 32 total paths. The path directions are correct, the anchors and nodes are all tidy, and everything previews correctly in Glyphsapp. However; when I export the font and attempt to type the character in Illustrator, only the left half of the glyph shows up.

As you can see in the image below, the character displays in full when outlined (or if I zoom in or use a very high pt value) but the character is not fully visible in the live text box.

Additional info that may or may not be helpful: UPM is 2048, problematic character’s width in Glyphsapp is 18072. And for anyone wondering why I would want this included as a glyph in my font… I work for a bank and we use my custom family as our main body and disclaimer font and having the logos available easily like this saves loads of time when we are creating marketing materials since EVERY PIECE has to have this one and two others (that work perfectly in my font by the way) on it.

Any ideas why this might be happening? Is there a max width for characters that I’m not aware of?
Thanks!

Some apps have problems with wide glyphs like this.

Why don’t you use individual letters? And only put the icon in the PUA glyph?

This particular lockup is a different width and weight than the actual font in which it resides but is based on the same letterforms. It needs to be bold and condensed for maximum spacial efficiency.

I think you should make a “bold condensed” version of your font instead. Or use a smaller UPM.

What happens if you add a Scale to UPM = 500 to the instance?
