Component tricks don't seem to be linking

As shown in the image, after creating the _tail.q component and adding _qtail to it, I tried to add an anchor named qtail to the “Q” character, but the linkage failed.

You need to add the “qtail” anchor to the “O” (or whatever glyph you use as a component in the “Q”.

Is it like this? It’s still not linked. Am I missing a step?

If you want your Q to be made up of O + _tail.q, you need to first make sure your O actually has content in it first, and then make Q out of components:

• Draw the O shape you want and put it in O
• Add the qtail anchor in the O glyph
• Open the Q glyph and add O and _tail.q as components (⌘⇧C, then search by glyph name)

Then it should look right.
