Components in variable font not working when transformed

Hello!

This is my first post, so please forgive me if I am doing this incorrectly.

I am working on a component-based variable font comprised of two components, like a pixelfont. In master 1 the components have a certain width, and in master 2 these components are stretched and replaced.

When working on the two masters in Glyphs they look as they should, but when the font is exported (no problems alerted when I do) and used in indesign, the the transformation of the components (their width) does not take effect?

Does anyone have a similar experience, or know how to combat the issue?

The transformation of components can’t be varied in variable fonts. They only can be moved. I should change it so that the components are decomposed or at least an warning is shown.
