repeatedly encountering the issue that already perfectly positioned components (e g in colon, guillemets, ellipsis, approxequal, etc) seem to shift while I am not watching.

I would not know how other than hoping it happens again ā I will observe it.
I think I have the same bug as you. Apparently randomly some components move. It seems to happen after I generate some component glyphs (NOT than the ones that shift), but Iām not sure, since it happened in glyphs which were off-screen for a while.

That is a very good description of what I observed.
Example: Perfectly positioned ā=ā on one day. Next day it looks like āāāā.
