Creating entirely new Master ; from normal to display font

Hey!
I’m very new to Glyphs and using it for my semester course at the moment.
The task is to create a readable variable font which then has to transcents into a display font.

The readable font is already created including a regular, thin and bold master - latter one is what I want to change into the display font now but now I’m confused on how to create it especially since the font is supposed to be Art Nouveau inspired with alot of curves, flowy lines etc.

I know that, in order to create a variable font the nodes, etc of the masters have to be the same - but what if I have to add more elements to give my font the desired aesthetic when it hits the display font stage - like a long vine-like end for the h stem?

Again I’m completely new to glyphs and maybe its a simple solution that i just don’t know about, I appreciate every help I’m getting

You’ll have to add extra nodes to your “normal” master in order to make it compatible with your more extravagant master. As long as your outlines are technically compatible, interpolation is possible. Depending on where you place the extra (invisible) points on your normal master, you can control the interpolation style.
