Currently, the only way to store a custom metric in Blue Values is to set its MetricType to “Other” without defining a scope.
Can you explain why it works this way? And if there is a way to store extra zones in Blue Values ?

What do you need to extra value for?
And what is wrong with set it to Other?
I have a .glyphs file with multiple scripts, and I want to add some BlueValues to match the metrics of some of them.
Setting them to ‘Other’ is not a problem at all. My main concern is the inability to set Scope while keeping them stored in BlueValues.
You need to know that the number of blue values is quite limited. And they can’t overlap. So there is not much room to add more from other scripts.
This will change for CFF2 as there you can have multiple font dicts.
