Did Adobe ignore vertical metrics values?

Hello,

I’m in the final stages of preparing for my upcoming release, which is an Arabic cursive Naskh font. I’ve encountered an issue related to vertical metrics, and I believe there’s a discussion about it in the following link:

My question is: Why does Adobe ignore vertical metrics values? And what steps should I take to ensure that the line spacing in my text in Illustrator, InDesign matches the Text in TextEdit?

I’m using Glyphs 3.3 (3306)

Just to check: you have “Use Typo Metrics” set, right?

Adobe applications set up leading to 120% of UPM by default, ignoring typoAscender data from the font. It doesn’t mean that there is something wrong with the font. To control it in Adobe, just manually change the Leading on the Character panel.

Hello Sebastian, yes, I do. BTW, Adobe ignored it as well.

Thanks for the clarification. While many users are accustomed to adjusting the leading manually, as a type designer, I need to resolve this issue if there is a solution.

Because the user is supposed to set them. There is nothing in the font you can do to disable the paragraph panel in InDesign or Illustrator.

InDesign doesn’t ignore all of them btw, in one of the baseline settings, it takes typoAscender for determining the first baseline offset.
