Failed to get HEAD (unborn)

Just space, no Tab, no Return.

Space does nothing.

OK. It seems that all this time even though the Python Button turned RED and reported Installed there was no installation happening. I realised that when I noticed that the folder GlyphsPythonPlugin was not created. But there was no new report (Failed to get head) or anything else.

I switched networks and it did install afterwards and now all messages have stopped and things look like they are back to normal.

Perhaps there should be some other message report, one with a more clear indication of what the problem is related to.

I think the fact that the first dialog window was still open blocked any other error messages that might arise from the Python installation. Good to know that it works for you now, and we will fix the dialog so that you can reach all buttons always, no matter how many plugins you have installed.

I spoke too early… I don’t know what is causing it but it seems that there is no download happening from Github. The folder is empty and even trying to manually download it leaves the download hanging…

I tried with other repos and all downloads are just hanging…

I tried also over my phone’s data and the result is the same.

Microsoft (owners of GitHub) are having massive server issues today. That might play a role …

Why don’t I see a (Glyphs) option though? Is that normal?

This is so frustrating… So many hours and nothing has changed. At least if anyone can confirm they are facing issues with Github downloads I would appreciate it immensely.

Can you now download files directly from GitHub’s website and use Git to clone repositories for GitHub? If not, it’s probably a network issue on your end. For me, GitHub works currently.

It is madness. I have tried every possible way to download files from Github and my mac is refusing to do it. Across all browsers, Github Desktop, Terminal, Glyphs… I have no clue what has happened.

Another Mac on the same network downloads everything fine. It’s some local issue with my mac.

Do you have a network site monitor such as Little Snitch installed? If so check the rules for it and see if github was accidentally flagged. It’s highly unlikely but one has to check everything.

No I don’t but thanks for taking the time to propose solutions.

The problem is fixed… I removed all plugins, all scripts, everything, uninstalled Glyphs3, restarted and now Github downloads are working fine.

From what I understood some download from Glyphs was left hanging and that ā€œblockedā€(?) everything else… (I am not sure that’s the right terminology but you get the point.)

Thanks so much to everyone who tried to help.

K.
