I would love to be able to create global guides that would only display for a specific category of glyphs: small caps, lining figures, oldstyle figures, superiors, inferiors, diacritics… When I’m designing a fully-featured book face, for instance, I build up such a mass of global guides that it’s hard to see which one I should be following.
Is there a guide to this feature anywhere? It’s great, but I’m having some trouble with the boolean filters, and sometimes I seem to select the wrong filters, in which case the guide vanishes completely and has to be redrawn.
All guides will show up in the space glyphs where you have a chance to fix the filter.
Other than that, the filters work the same way as in the sidebar.
Hi, Georg. Don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but the vanished guides aren’t showing up in the space character. And the interface does not seem the same as the sidebar filter to me.
I’m trying to figure out how:
to use the same guides for numerals and currency.
to keep the guides for lining/os numerals from showing up in the numerators, denominators, superscript, and subscript.
to make the “Any/None of the following are true” visible. Sometimes it shows up and sometimes it doesn’t, and I don’t know why.
None of these are pressing problems, but it would be great to understand this feature better. Is it explained in any tutorial or manual? Haven’t found it so far.
