Feature Request: make component preview work with any glyphs

Right now the component preview that shows a preview of a component when a relevant anchor is selected only works if the current glyphs is in list of combinations built into Glyphs. This seems like a pointless limitation. Please make component previews work with anchors placed into any glyph.

I don’t full understand your suggestion. You like to see all accents on all glyphs? And why?

Components have uses other than just building accented characters. This would also help when dealing with letters that should have anchors that do not exist in Glyphs list, such as the lack of an ogonek anchor on i and i.sc.

I understand. Can you give an example on other component uses?

The ogonek anchor is in the dotlessi. There was an discussion about that one the forum.

Adapting your GlyphData.xml could help with that.

Copy this file:
/Applications/Glyphs.app/Contents/Frameworks/GlyphsCore.framework/Versions/A/Resource s/GlyphData.xml
… into this location:
~/Library/Application Support/Glyphs/Info/GlyphData.xml

And adapt it to your needs in the XML editor of your choice.
