Font appearing Bolder on Windows

Hi, I was sent this screenshot from a client, my font is appearing bolder on windows, if you look closely the dot above the lowercase i bleeds into the lower stem because of this rendering issue.

I have followed all hinting tutorials and my font still seems to be having rendering issues on windows machines. Is there something I have missed or any advice anyone can offer?

Thank you kindly.

That looks like a style linking issue, because that looks like a faux (artificial) bold, created by Word because it can’t find the linked bold font. Did you design the bold style that way?

Did you check the “Bold” checkbox in the bold instance? Drop your fonts (at least Regular and Bold) onto fontbakery.com, it will let you know about issues related to style linking.

  1. Is this Word for Mac or Word for Windows? Mac Word is notoriously bad at making style linking work.
  2. Did you give your client a Regular and a Bold font?

Thank you Sebastian and Rainer, yes they have a full family, I loaded in regular and bold to fontbakery and it came back with the following, which from what I see, aren’t anything to do with style linking?

Hi Rainer, I believe this was on word on Microsoft edge.

Can you reproduce the issue? Did they install both Regular and Bold?
