Font Book changes font name to "New Font"

When installing new fonts the new fonts keep their names on the hard drive in the font folder but the names in Font Book are “new Font” and show up as “new Font” in apps. The second font installed is therefore considered a duplicate)

It’s likely that you haven’t set the Family Name of the font. Take a look at the Font tab of the the File > Font Info… (Command-I) panel. Also, see section 7. Font Info of the Glyphs Handbook: https://glyphsapp.com/get-started/
