Having recently reverted to a previous beta version of G3.5 (3526) after some plugin bugs, Glyphs 3 now thinks it’s Glyphs 4 whilst Glyphs 4 now thinks it’s Glyphs 5 in the menus… No issues when working within the programs but glyphs 3 files automatically appear as glyphs 4 files in the finder window too.
It does make it a little tricky to know which is a G3 or G4 format but beyond that there isn’t anything else to note. Caches have been cleared and M1 mac restarted multiple times (Sonoma 14.8.3).
When you download an app called “Glyphs 4” and there is already an app installed with that name, macOS might rename the newly downloaded app by incrementing the last number in its name: “Glyphs 5”.
Go to your Applications folder (or Command-click the Glyphs app icon in the Dock) and rename the apps by selecting one of them and pressing Return.
Thanks Florian, G4 was already installed when I was rolling back on the latest cutting edge of G3.5 but your fix seems to have resolved it! Thank you.
However something unexpected happened as a result with version 4000 reappearing as a new G5 whilst version 4004 appeared correctly as G4. Moving version 4000 (aka G5) to the bin seems to have resolved this conflict.
