Getting Typecomp Error: List Overflow

What does this mean? Have made my font using numbers and the capital letter set and a few punc marks but its just thrown this error when I try and export…? Can anyone help?

Can you send us the .glyphs file?

Hello, didn’t want to make a new topic.

I do have the same problem as ‘rosemountague’. It gives me the same error ‘Typecomp Error: List Overflow’.

A little bit of info that i can give you is that the font has a lot of nodes and the moment that i included more glyphs for some other languages it started to give me this error when exporting as .otf. Thank you in advance for your response.

Can you read this tutorial: http://www.glyphsapp.com/tutorials/troubleshooting-a-font-that-does-not-export/

If that doesn’t give you a clue, can you send me the .glpyhs file to support at this domain?

Tried this already :). It gives me this error:

“generateFont.command” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

I tried to narrow it down. Is seems that when i include any other language listed below it gives me this error.

  • Western European;
  • Central European;
  • South Eastern European;

Will send you the current version of the file that gives me the error. Thank you once again.

I had a similar issue when experimenting with alternate glyph names. Chances are that may be the source of your problem.

Exporting without “Use Production glyphs names” solved the problem.

I am having this error also.

I am currently using Version 2.0.0 (675).
This is one of the many styles that have the same structure ( number of glyphs, features etc…) Only on 2 selected styles does that error displays, the others does not seem to be affected.

This is the last code form the report (there were more warnings about the hinting, just pasted the last 15 rows):

makeotfGlyphs [WARNING] unhinted
makeotfGlyphs [WARNING] unhinted

makeotfGlyphs [NOTE] Wrote new font file ‘…/NameOfTheFont.otf’.

Already tried removing the ‘frac’ feature from the aalt feature, did not solve the problem :). I could not make sense of the warning above that one :). If you could help?

This is an error from makeOTF that has to do with subroutinisation. This is difficult to debug without seeing the font. Could you send me the .glyphs file?

You can safely ignore warnings. Errors are important.

Do you have a rather complex font and are using you trying to autohint it?

This particular error seems to be harmless. The font is written just fine. It happens with fonts that have a lot nodes. I will look into it to see if it is save to ignore it altogether.

I’m having the same issue.

The file is writing just fine after I run “generateFont.command” manually. But exporting from Glyphs directly doesn’t work.
The font does have a lot of nodes as it is a handwritten “dry brush” script so I assume this is what’s causing the problem.

Any chance you can look into this if I send the glyphs file to “to support at this domain”?

yes, please send it.

Just did.
Thank you!

I’m having similar issues to this, was there a solution?

reducing the number of points by simplifying paths - that was the only solution

Thanks Elena, was that in Glyphs app or Illustrator?

In this particular case Tidy up Paths worked well.

@ianbarnard can you send me the file that crashed Glyphs (the crash you mentioned on Twitter).

Just sent an email. Thanks
