Glyph Sorting Order

Hello,

My font uses a custom glyphOrder parameter to manage the sorting order of all of the final glyphs that will appear in the exported font. That works perfectly fine to manage all of the standard glyphs as well as all of the contextual alternates, stylistic sets etc.

I am having a problem with the sorting order of the many, many non-exporting component glyphs also contained in the .glyphs file. Those glyphs are not managed (not included) in the glyphOrder list and appear at the bottom of the “font” window, after all of the other glyphs, in an unnamed category that displays the default name “other”. They should appear in alphabetical order and most of them do, but there has beed a stubborn tendency for many of these component glyphs to appear at the top of the category rather than in their proper, alphabetical position within the category. Sometimes if I remake the component glyph from scratch it will appear in its proper place, sometimes not.

I know I can fix this by adding all of these components to the glyphOrder parameter but that would be difficult to maintain. I would really like the intended behavior of alphabetical sorting to work. Any ideas why this is happening would be helpful.

Thank you.

Can you check the ‘category’ and subcategory’ of those glyphs?

Hello, thank you. The category and subcategory are both blank & unchecked for all of the component glyphs. All names begin with an underscore.

can you send me the file?
