What is the “script” attribute in the glyphData.xml used for?
Is it for GlyphsApp internal use only? And what effect does it have?
Does it effect the finally generated fonts?

It is used mostly for two things.
- sorting/grouping/filtering of glyphs in Font view.
- Feature code generation, handling of writing direction
The info itself is not stored in the final font.
