Hi,
I’m experiencing an issue with Glyphs 3 (version 3.3.1) on macOS 15.3.2. After using RMX Scaler and saving the file, Glyphs unexpectedly crashes. The crash happens even if I don’t save the file after applying RMX Scaler and continue working on file.
Other files work fine, so it seems file-specific.
The file is in .glyphspackage format and is quite large.
Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this? Any troubleshooting steps I could try?
Can you trigger the crash a few times right after you used the scaler. That might help me find the crash report. And the post a note here so that I have a timeframe.
I just wanted to follow up on this issue. The crash still persists, and I’ve narrowed it down further—it only happens when generating glyphs that are part of OpenType substitutions (e.g., .sc or .osf glyphs). Other glyphs work fine.
Is there anything specific I could check to debug this further? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Can you check that you have the latest cutting edge (from last night). It has a new setting to specify your name and email for the crash reporter. Can you please fill it out and then trigger the crash a few times. That makes it much easier to find the crash report.
I’m on version 3409. I’ve just triggered the crash several times after filling in my name and email in the settings. However, I don’t see the usual crash report dialog asking to send crash info. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help track it down.
Yes, I do get the Apple “Problem Report for Glyphs” window when the app crashes. I’m currently back on the stable version, but I can switch to the cutting edge again if needed for further testing.
I’m attaching the full crash report as a .txt file in this message to avoid spamming the thread with too much text. Let me know if you’d prefer it pasted inline instead. Report.txt (164.3 KB)
Thanks, that’s great to hear! Would you recommend switching to the cutting edge version to test the fix? I’m a bit cautious about using cutting edge builds since they might introduce other issues into my fonts, but happy to try it if needed.
You can have both versions next to each other. Duplicate the app in Finder, name it e.g. “Glyphs 3 Beta”. Then start this copy, enable cutting edge and update. Then you can disable cutting edge again to not update the stable version by accident.
