Hello. I use layers a lot when designing Hangul. When I select a layer for the glyph I’m editing in Edit View (in the screenshot, you can see I’ve selected a layer named “H”), another glyph below it (the Hangul syllable “믜”) also appears to be displayed with the H layer applied. This is causing me trouble. I’ve also included a screenshot of the standard form of “믜” for comparison.
I can’t attach a video to show you, but when I have many glyphs written out in Edit View and click through layers while working, it’s confusing because the appearance of all the characters changes each time. Is there a way to make it display like the previous Glyphs 3 instead?
This could be related to the new interpolation preview in Edit View. For some glyph axes this makes sense, for some it does not. Could you send me the file or a reduced file with just the relevant glyphs? (For a private message, click my profile picture → Message.)

Glyphs 3 was doing the same thing for intermediate layers. But not for layers of smart glyphs. but as those are regular intermediate layers, they get the same treatment.

Thank you for the explanation — that makes sense architecturally. However, in practice this change has made my daily workflow significantly more inconvenient.
I frequently select multiple smart glyphs at once and switch between their layers to compare and adjust shapes. Since this update, when I select a different layer on one glyph, the other selected glyphs now appear to have that same layer selected as well — even though they don’t actually share that layer. This makes it hard to tell which layer is really active on each glyph, and I’ve already made a few editing mistakes because of this confusion.
I understand this is a side effect of unifying smart layers with intermediate layers internally, but from a user’s perspective, smart glyph layers and intermediate layers are conceptually different, and I don’t think they should share this selection-highlighting behavior. Would it be possible to either restore the previous behavior for smart glyph layers specifically, or add an option to disable this cross-glyph layer highlighting?
