I put in the name I wanted for the font, but it has -New font next to the name. I saved it as .otf
When I install it installs as New Font, I have tried renaming and it never works. What do I need to do to save it as the actual name I want? P.S I searched before asking…

Hello, where did you enter the name you want?
You need to enter the name here, in the Font Info (Cmd+I):
Upon export, this will generate a file called Myfontname-Regular.otf. Your family name is Myfontname and the style name is Regular. Does this not work for you?
Thank you, I didn’t see you could click on it. That worked.
Next issue is that when I click into a specific glyph like an asterisk it puts it in low and I can’t move it like I have done with others.
Can you be more specific what you are doing? Can you show a screenshot?
