GlyphsIconGrid 0.1.1 — looking for testers and feedback 
Hi everyone,
Now that Glyphs 4 is officially available, and has become—in my opinion—one of the best tools for drawing complete icon sets, I created GlyphsIconGrid.
It started as something I wanted for my own icon-design workflow: a simple construction grid that lives directly inside the Glyphs Edit view and automatically adapts to the weight of each master.
GlyphsIconGrid is a reporter plug-in that draws square cells, circular guides, spokes, and useful icon keylines. Grid spacing can follow each master’s H stem, allowing Regular, Bold, and other weights to use construction grids that feel visually consistent.
The plug-in also offers hover and alignment feedback while working with the Draw, Rectangle, and Circle tools.
I’ve just published the first public version, currently 0.1.1, and I would love some help testing it in both Glyphs 3 and Glyphs 4.
I’m particularly interested in feedback about:
- Drawing and editing icons with the construction grid
- Hover and node-alignment feedback
- Rectangle and Circle tool previews
- Switching between masters and weights
- Performance with complex glyphs or larger selections
- Unexpected redraws, flickering, or interface slowdown
- Ideas that could make the grid more useful for real icon projects
Installation
The official Plugin Manager listing is currently under review. Until it is approved, you can install GlyphsIconGrid manually:
- Download the latest release
- Unzip the download
- Double-click
IconGrid.glyphsReporter - Restart Glyphs
- Open a glyph and choose View → Show Icon Grid

Optional AI-assisted configuration
If you use Glyphs MCP, you can also install the optional GlyphsIconGrid AI skill.
The skill allows ChatGPT/Codex, Claude Code, or Cursor to inspect and configure GlyphsIconGrid parameters directly from your conversation. It can explain where inherited values come from, preview proposed changes, apply only confirmed settings, and read the results back through Glyphs MCP.
The plug-in must be installed first—the AI skill helps configure it but does not replace the plug-in installation. Use Glyphs MCP’s guarded Edit profile when making changes.
