I have tried to find a way to remove this from my background, and it seems to be bothering me.
How do I remove/deactivate it?

What do you want to remove?
The red outline is the background layer, you can edit it with ⌘B and press ⌘B again to switch to the normal foreground layer. You can hide the background from the View menu. Learn more here:
The horizontal red lines are guides. Click on their locks to select them and then unlock them in the Info box to delete them. You can also just hide them, again in the View menu. Learn more here:
The green fill color is from the Master Compatibility feature. Learn more here:
