How to Include Width in Family Name

Hi all,

I’m wanting to set the naming of my typeface up to include the width in the family name rather than the style name. EG:

BrisbaneComp-Bold
BrisbaneComp-BoldItalic

rather than…

Brisbane-CompBold
Brisbane-CompBoldItalic

I’m struggling to full understand the Glyphs manual on how to do this. I’ve tried a few things including adding the Typographic Family Names and Typographic Style Names with no luck.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks so much

It appears by using Localized Family Names and Localized Style Names works, however the manual says this is for naming based on the language setting.

If you want this naming scheme for the whole family, just set the Family Name in Font – General – Family Name to “Brisbane Comp” and omit the width part from the style names in Exports – General – Style Name, e.g. “Bold Italic”.

Otherwise setting the Localized Family/Style Name should work fine. Just keep the language at “Default”.

Thanks Jens, I have 5 widths so I think the localized family/style names is the way to go. Thanks so much for your response.
