I type the font in Sketch and change the line height, but fonts did’nt aligh vertically in text area, anybody know how to do?
I don’t know Sketch but it may be related to the vertical metrics (i.e. ascender and descender values) in the font. There is a lot of information about vertical metrics available on the net, and specifically for Glyphs: Vertical metrics | Glyphs
Interestingly, alls these how-tos seem to ignore a crucial aspect: In many contexts, the relation between ascender and descender controls the vertical positioning if it is (nominally) vertically centered. HTML buttons are a typical example: Without additional styling, the font user would expect the text to be (visually) vertically centered, and whenever I produce fonts I ensure this is the case. IMHO this is more important than all the other rules and strategies given in the tutorials.
So, not sure whether this is the case here with your fonts in Sketch but you may want to try increasing the nominal descender values so as to move your text up.
If I remember correctly, Sketch uses the typo
values. Don’t forget to add the Use Typo Metrics parameters, as described in the tutorial Tim linked.
I agree with Tim that visually centering is very important, especially for use in, coincidentally, Sketch (and other prototyping tools). This is reflected in Fontbakery profiles, which check for vertical centering. Adding this to the tutorial wouldn’t hurt.
The align values could be use when I change the adaptation method。I thought it should be set by Glyphs before。Thank you for replying。
