Image in background

hello!
(couldn’t find such a topic before…)
I have a problem with glyphs. There is this option of “add image” to the background. I drew all my letters on paper, scanned them and now I want to digitalise them. The problem is… each time I add an image to background it’s gone as soon as I start to draw my typeface…

Is it normal? Is there a possibility to keep the image in background?

View > Show Image.

Doesn’t work. As soon as I draw it disappears.
