Independant Axes in Single Glyphs File

It would be useful to be able set exceptions on masters for certain axes so one can keep related but non interpolating masters in the same file and still be able to see instances. The situation I’m thinking for are as follows, there are probably other situations this would be useful:

  1. Upright and Italic Masters
  2. Sans and Serif

I do this because it’s the best way to flip between styles and compare. Right now it’s not possible to generate instances and see compatibility as it’s trying to see compatibility between Upright and Italics.

You can do that. You can set negative values to avoid the interpolation (Weight = -100 for instance).
