Is there any way to create italic in Variable font without creating a separate italic master?

Hi there,

I successfully exported an italic OTF files with transformations without creating a separate italic master when creating an OTF. However, is there any way to create italic without creating a separate italic master when creating Variable font?

You can slant the whole variable font with a custom parameter in a VF setting in Font Info > Exports. But it will probably not look good.

That is currently not possible. And in most cases not advisable.
