Hello, I am very new to glyphs, and typography in general. On this current project, when I try to export my font as a .ttf, I get a few errors. First, I get a warning for 5 characters, saying “Incompatible outlines. This can be caused by outside transparent overlaps.” The second warning is “These glyphs are not compatible.,” which lists 14 characters. I looked into the issue, and found that in order for characters to be compatible between weights, they need to have the same amount of points and paths. Unless there is something I keep missing, all of the characters that are throwing the error have the same amount of points and paths as their lower weight counterparts. I tried enforcing compatibility check, but I didn’t see any difference. Is there anything else I should be looking for that might be causing issues? Also, what is an outside transparent overlap? Thanks in advance!
Can you post a screenshot of your incompatible outlines?
So here is one of the 14 characters that is giving me the error. I imagine it has something to do with the way I increased the weight, but I’m just not sure to be honest. I can send screenshots of the other 13 characters if you need.
The open ends are fine when applying a stroke. But rounded ends do not produce compatible outlines when slightly angled (like in the J). So you can’t do rounded strokes for variable fonts, yet. It will work in the next bigger version.

I see, thank you very much for clarifying!
