Kerning diacritics

Apologies is this has already been asked but I couldn’t find it.

I’ve designed a script font and have kerned the hell out of it, now I’ve created the diacritic letters, they have inherited the side-bearings but not the kerning.

Is there an easy way to copy the Kerning from the english glyphs to the diacritic characters? Is this something to do with kerning groups?

This is definitely something to be done with kerning groups. There’s an introduction here: Kerning | Glyphs

You can set the groups up with a handy script:

I’ve put everything in groups and set the diacritics left and right kerning but it still not working.

I have set ń to have sidebearings of n and left and right kerning group of n

but when I type ńy its not applying the english n’s kerning

What am I doing wrong?

You need to set the group with the script mentioned above. And then compress kerning in Window > Kerning.

I’ve done that but its still not kerning the diacritics like the english letters

Can you send the font to support at this domain?

You need to make sure the lock icon by the keening group is closed… Maybe that’s why it’s not applying the kerning?
