Kerning is not exporting

When Exporting font files (no matter if TTF, OTF, WOFF) the kerning pairs do not export.

Version:
Glyphs App 3.2 (3176)
Mac OS 13.2 (22D49)

I tried it with an older glyphs file from a different project. It is the same.

I have a parallel installation of Glyphs App 3.1.2 (3151) and the exporting works fine there.

Hope the problem is just the cutting edge version and not my main installation?

Do you have a manual kern feature in the features tab?

I didn’t know that could be an issue. Indeed I have a kern feature. I just deactivated it and the export works. Why is that? Is there a recommendation to use only a stable version when exporting a project having that feature? Thanks

I believe this was changed such that a manual kern feature would override the automatic kern feature code. If you want both your own custom code and the automatic code, add the line

# Automatic Code

somewhere in your kern feature and the automatic code will be placed at that location. This also allows you to controls whether your own code come before or after (or both) of the automatic code.

Thanks, no idea where that was communicated, but it works for me. Maybe the Contextual kerning tutorial needs to be updated.

3.2 is still just a cutting edge. A blog post with all the changes and possibly smoother transition from 3.1.2 will be ready once the official version if 3.2 is released.
