Layered color font files not loading all layers

I’ve exported my layered colour font and it’s created three files (top, side, bottom) however when I load them into Font Book or the font folder I created in my adobe library only one of the files/weights is loading. What am I doing wrong? I want to load and layer the three instances(?)

Can you show screenshots of the instance settings?

Thanks Georg, Here are some screenshots of the settings. I also noticed the way the layers are lining up are ok in preview but aren’t lining up in key line/outline, so included those in case that has something to do with it? I’ve never tried making a layer font before so this is all new to me!

The misalignment is caused by the different italic angle in the different masters.

And can you show the Instance setting in the Exports tab? You need to define one instance per master.

thanks, these are my exports tab settings

This all looks fine. Maybe a font cache issue? Eliminating font cache problems | Glyphs

I changed the italic angle to be the same in all the masters and the layers are still showing as offset from the top layer when key lines but are ok when previewing. The nodes have the same values across all layers so it appears mathematically correct?

Can you send me the .glyphs file?

the problems is that the different layers have different width. You almost fixed it by adding a “Link Metrics With First Master” parameter. But you need to add it to the second and third masters, not at the first.

Perfect, thank you so much! Screenshot 2024-08-19 at 5.40.37 PM|690x612

Everything lines up now, but I can’t change the side bearings any more? Have I linked the metrics incorrectly?

Remove the linking parameters from the first master and add the “link metrics …” parameter to the other two masters.

Or, just remove the “Link Metrics with Master” parameters. Only add “Link Metrics With First Master” parameter to the second and third master.

Problem solved! thank you
