Linked metrics are updated but still red

Hello hello,

I’m creating a separate file for italic for my variable font. I had no problem using linked metrics for my regular font. But on italic, when I try to update the side bearings, it still shows as red.

My initial assumption was that it’s because of grid spacing, but even when I made the spacing 10 by 1, the red warning didn’t go away. My second assumption was because of wrong extremes. I edited all glyphs but the red side bearings won’t go away.

Also whenever I tried updating, the nodes keep moving, which results in deformation of the shape. Not sure how to fix it, any ideas?

That means that the metrics key is not up to date. Click the circular arrow next to it or do Glyph > Update Metrics.

That’s the problem — even if I update, it still is stuck at the same red value and distorts my nodes

The problem is with the italic bounding box and the coarser grid you are using. I need to check if I can relax the sync warning in this case.
