Make production glyphs names

Hi,

Trying to convert glyph names to production names, following this tutorial:
https://glyphsapp.com/tutorials/system-services

But it’s not working for some reason. Is there a more recent way of doing it?

Thanks!

Just tested: It does work with Glyphs 2.5.2 (1158) on macOS 10.13.6 (17G65). It turns nice names (the ones you see in Glyphs) into production names (the ones that end up in the compiled OTF). Try it with a-cy, it will turn it into uni0430.

Related: What do you need this for? Conversion is happening automatically at export.

For some reason I’m getting “No services apply” when following all the instructions.

I have to deliver UFO files with feature files for each instance (8 fonts) with production names and not nice names.

Help?

In which app are you trying to apply the service? Did you switch them on in System Preferences?

Glyphsapp… Yes It’s on : /

In Glyphs? Why in Glyphs? What exactly are you doing?

Export the feature code (best in the Temp folder), select all text, and right-click to open the context menu and choose Services > Make Production Glyph Names.

There is a bug in macOS that prevents to run the services in the same app that provides the services. So you need to copy paste the text to an text editor and run the filters there.
