makeOTF error: could not translate UTF8 glyph code into Mac Roman in name table name nov

#1

Hello, I get this message when trying to export a font, anyone knows what to do?

makeotfGlyphs [FATAL] Could not translate UTF8 glyph code into Mac Roman in name table name nov

#2

Can you send me the .glyphs file?

#3

Has the problem been solved? I had the same trouble.

#4

What version of Glyphs do you have?

The error means that you have a name (family or style name) that contains none ASCII characters.

Add a custom parameter called localizedFamilyName in the custom parameter section, and copy the Chinese font name there. In the Family Name field, add an English name instead.

Problem: The prefilled default name ‘new font’ is written in Chinese characters in the Chinese localization. That invites the user to overwrite the Chinese font name with his or her own Chinese name. That is a difficulty for first-time users.
