Masters and Metrics/Kerning Group Inheritance

Hello,

I am currently working on a font with two masters (regular, oblique). I notice that metrics and kernings groups on the oblique master update to reflect the regular master whenever I edit it (I don’t think this was the case in some of my other fonts).

Is there a rule that governs when metrics and kerning groups are updated to be consistent between masters automatically?

Kerning groups are always on the same on all masters (they are defined per glyph).
Metrics keys are per glyph by default but can be defined per layer, too by starting with a double equal sign.
