Mekkablue script "Variable Font Test HTML" not showing the glyphs

Hello, Rainer, @mekkablue.

I think I should direct my question to you.

I’ve noticed that the letters displayed in Variable Font Test HTML aren’t synchronized with the current state of my font.

The font has a single weight axis. First off, I worked on and finished the Black master for both uppercases and lowercases.
After finishing the light extreme for lowercases, I ran the script – but all glyphs appeared in a fallback font.

The next day, I began working on Light master of uppercase letters. When I reran the script, the weight transition for the lowercase letters worked correctly, but the uppercase glyphs only displayed in Black, as if the script was referencing a previous state of the font file.
I can’t say for sure what triggered the updates, but it seems the script doesn’t run in real time : the changes appear delayed.

What I’ve tried :

  • Quite and reopen Glyphs, then rerun the script. => no effect
  • Exported the font and tested it in the Font gauntlet made by Dinamo, animation worked fine aross the axis .

My working environement:

  • MAC OS intel core Sequoia 15.3.2
  • Glyphs 3413

Do you have any idea what might be causing this, how I can force the test HTML to reflect the current state of the font?

Grazie!

If you have a fallback font showing then it couldn’t find the export folder. Make sure the correct font file is referenced in the code. Is the .html next to the exported fonts? (It currently doesn’t handle the Export Folder custom parameter.)

Which browser are a you using? Perhaps it is a caching problem. Or the old font file didn’t get overwritten and the html is referencing the old file?

There are some edge cases where the script may have issues with virtual masters. Make sure the axis sliders have the right scope.
