MM template for Width and Weight

Curious if anyone has a Glyphs file set up with Axes for Width and Weight ?

I made one that had 4 masters
Thin Condensed ( 100, 1 )
Thin Extended (100, 9)
Heavy Condensed (900, 1)
Heavy Extended (900, 9)

it seemed to work out ok but what would be the Regular weight (5, 400) would be was sorta meh… while the extreme were nice

I went in and added a master for regular but my setup is sorta funky and seems to not interpolate below (5, 400)…

feeling a bit lost.

Is that a variable font export?

Yes its a Variable font export
Seems something is off with the interpolation or weights and widths below ( 4, 500 )… but Id love some help on my MM’s as I want to make more fonts with both Weight and Width axes…

was thinking that
Thin Condensed ( 100, 1 )
Thin Extended (100, 9)
Regular ( 400, 5)
Heavy Condensed (900, 1)
Heavy Extended (900, 9)

would be good…
but maybe it should be 3 masters ? like
Thin Condensed ( 100, 1 )
Regular ( 400, 5)
Heavy Extended (900, 9)

would love to looks at a set up if someone has one that has a master for weight and width with regular in edition to the extremes

For the way how variable fonts are exported right now, all masters need to be on the corners of rectangles. Putting that regular master in the middle disturbs that rectangular system.

What you need to do is to add a Regular Condensed and Regular Extended OR Thin regular width and Heavy regular width (and no Regular/Regular). That should improve the results significantly (but of course not as good as a master in the middle).

ah ok I see so only the edges that you are dealing with, I see
