I’m using Offset Curve to “fill in” the thickness of my font design, like this:
But some times, random almost, this happens in stead:
It does not duplicate the outline, it just “moves it”.
Sorry about the lack of terminology here, I’m new 
What am I doing wrong?
If the path is open, it makes a stroke, but if the path is closed, it makes the shape bolder (or lighter).
So if you open the shape (click one node with the path tool) it will work as expected

Perhaps, the dialog should have an option like ‘Expand closed paths to strokes’.
