opsz axis: ascender height difference between masters shifts InDesign text frame

Hi everyone,

I am working on am working on a variable font with an optical size axis (opsz). The Ascender in the opsz Masters is higher, as in the default one.
To keep the vertical metrics (custom aparameters) consistent in the VF I have kept them, as well as the typometrics, the same in all masters. However, Indesign seems to not recognise these values, as the bounding box (fit to frame) takes into account the actual height of the letters and neglects the vertical metrics. This leads to the text cutting off in Indesign when using the VF sliders.

very curious sidenote: It seems to only take the height of the letter “b” into account. If I change any of the others like “f”, “d”, “k”, the vertical metrics stays consistent.

Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

Indesign always calculates the first baseline in a text box by measuring the top of the lowercase “d” and (mostly) ignores vertical metrics. Details are in the vertical metrics tutorial: Vertical metrics | Glyphs
