OTF files replaced by defaut font in InDesign (vertical metrics issues?)

Dear Glyphs community

I am reaching out to seek a bit of help regarding an issue I am currently experiencing with exporting OTF with a Glyphs3 file. Despite my efforts, I have been unable to resolve the problem and have not found any solutions online. I may have overlooked some resources, but I think I cannot proceed without your assistance.

To describe my issue: Whenever I export OTFs from Glyphs 3, the font is replaced by a default font in InDesign. For context, this is a relatively old file that I originally started in Glyphs 2. I am not sure if this could be relevant.

The OTFs generated in this manner do work when opened in a font tester in a web browser. There is a possible lead I am exploring related to ascender and capital heights in Font Info/Masters/Metrics, but I have not been able to resolve it.

In the image below, you can find:
–The values in my working file (native, Gylphs3)
–The values when I “save as” my Glyphs file as a Glyphs2 file (for all masters)
–The Values when I open an OTF generated by Glyphs 3 in Glyphs 3
–My current features (in the native Glyphs 3 file). There may be something wrong with it?:

After a quick exchange with Igino Marini (iKern) about spacing, he told me that: “I had to find why they crashed fontmake and found the ‘CapHeight’ values (in wontinfo.plist) were or ‘-1’ or ‘9.223372036854776+18’. Both wrong but the second was probably out of range!” I’m pretty sure he gives me the solution here, but I don’t know how to fix this properly.

If I correct the Cap Height value in Glyphs 2, I can export, and the font functions correctly across all platforms. While I can continue to use this workaround, I would like the file to be as clean as possible (and learn what I’ve done wrong).

I exchanged emails with Rainer, whom I thank, who kindly advised me to update Glyphs (The last cutting edge version) and ensure that my Glyphs 3 file was set to version 3 in “Other”, which unfortunately did not resolve my issue. While I was searching, I also often restart my computer to be sure it wasn’t an InDesign cash issue.

I apologise if the solution is straightforward and I have overlooked it, and I hope you can assist me. Thanks in advance, and Cheers from Switzerland!

Why do you not have a cap height set in your file? If you set a cap height in your file (in Glyphs 3), does it work?

I don’t have set a Cap Height because it is the same height as the ascenders. Is it necessary to specify it? In any case, when I add it, I get this error message when I export (I just retested): There are overlapping zones

Oh, and I realize that I posted the wrong screenshot earlier: the undefined value is indeed my baseline:

Thanks for your help

Add the cap height with the same values as the ascender.

I was finally able to add my CAPS height without the error message I mentioned earlier. Everything exports, but the font is still replaced by a default font in InDesign (even after restarting the computer).

On a positive note, when I open the updated native file in Glyphs2, the CAPS height value is correct, as it is in the exported OTFs (opened in Glyphs3).

But my main issue still remains…

Can you drop your font file onto fontbakery.com? Check for issues relating to the name table. What are your export settings?

Are you using the Adobe Fonts folder?
